The study of a cohort of 22,434 men and 38,469 women from Church members across North America between 2002 and 2006 used a range of questionnaire and physical measures to track diet, BMI and diabetes.  The results can be tabulated as follows:

Dietary choice BMI Diabetes Prevalence

Vegans 23.6 2.9%
Lacto-ovo vegetarian 25.7 3.2%
Pesco vegetarians 26.3 4.8%
Non vegetarians 28.8 6.1%

In short the risk of diabetes increases with meat consumption.

Comment: Eat your veggies. Be cautious with animal product.  If you do enjoy meat you will need to pay more attention to exercise, relaxation, sleep and glycaemic index.
