Resilience in Schools

Why?
Athletic performance, be it in training or in individual or team competition, requires more than mere physical effort.  Success in sport requires full alignment and engagement of the heart and of the mind.
Education ideally builds a learning athlete.  Beyond simple facts, a student who can learn how to master stress, care for his / her body, engage emotions and discipline the mind is an individual well prepared for the challenges of life.  Without these abilities, traditional education falls on barren ground.

Our sporting and educational institutions urgently need to find curricular space for an evidence-based, integral approach to cultivating awareness and competence in Resilience. This must be extended to and through teachers, coaches and parents if we are collectively to achieve our potential at home, at work, in sport and in society generally.

Benefits
A Resilient athlete understands how to train and master the body, heart and mind in the pursuit of excellence.  Resilience skills are applied in achieving victory and just as importantly in securing the deep, rejuvenating recovery that facilitates training.
A Resilient student has acquired the life skills to put their formal training and life's aspirations to work.  In starting young, Resilience is eaily learned and quickly becomes an intuitive life-long skill

By building Resilience into school curriculums we will mitigate the destructive effects of distress, depression and poor health.  We will have built the fence at the top of the cliff and liberated our young people to pursue a path towards health, happiness and personal success.

Resilience Training is life changing for many participants.  While providing practical skills it is often the first time people discover how body, heart, mind and spirit can - and must - come together in life and work.   We have five books, health assessments, 360 degree assessments and personal training tools to support our work.  These are available on-line and in each of our practices.   We are committed to evidence-based and practical knowledge and bring a range of practical reflections on current science and thinking in the many fields related to Resilience.
Success Stories
Overall I found the course so worthwhile and inspiring.  I am constantly thinking about all aspects of it.  There is so much relevance to my role in high performance sport, but to every other aspect of my life also.  I can feel how some of these things I really want to master are going to be tough, but my awareness of those things and understanding the trigger is happening every day.
